Indiana Trip, July 2009

We will get back to posting pictures soon!!

July 2, 2009
We left for our Indiana trip today! Jayson was able to get off work early and we hit the road at noon. Since we left so early, we decided to surprise the boys and stop at the Lost Island Water Park in Waterloo, Iowa. We all had a blast riding the water slides (even Kayla!) and floating on the lazy river. When we got back in the car, we told the boys that we were stopping for the night in Dyersville, Iowa to go to Field of Dreams in the morning.

We arrived at the Field of Dreams right when they opened at 9 a.m. We took turns hitting and fielding the ball, then took some pictures in the corn. We continued our drive and arrived in Columbus, Indiana about 7 p.m. Doris had a wonderful taco spread ready to go. We visited and had a nice evening of catching up. Doris took the boys to the Columbus Airport for the annual fireworks display.

We slept in and started the morning with coffee on the back deck. That didn't last long as the rain started...and didn't stop all day. We stayed in and relaxed until we left for the church service. Grandpa Dan played the trumpet in the church service tonight. It was supposed to be an outdoor service in the park, but the steady rain all day moved it inside to the church sanctuary at St. Peter's Church in Columbus. See some videos of Grandpa playing at: jay-kay.smugmug.com

Grandma Doris made a great 4th of July meal at home. A great indoor picnic as the rain continued! Rama, a friend from India, joined us as we watched A Capitol Fourth on PBS. Then we played Wii tennis for a while before bed.

Jayson and I celebrated our 1-year anniversary today. Jayson bought me a nice emerald ring... what a sweetheart! We had a relaxing day at the house and then went to see the new Transformers 2 movie. We had a nice (and filling) dinner at Johnny Carino's Italian restaurant. The sun came out as we left the restaurant and we sat on the back deck when we came home.
